Mansion Sports - Manchester City are reportedly reluctant to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s valuation for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. 

The French champions have set a price tag of £40 million, a figure City consider excessive given the player’s contract situation.

According to Football Italia, PSG initially demanded €50 million (£43.2 million/$58.3 million) for the Italian international, who played a pivotal role in helping Les Parisiens clinch the Champions League title last season.

 While Pep Guardiola is understood to be highly interested in bringing Donnarumma to the Etihad, City are hesitant to commit such a significant sum for a player with less than a year left on his current deal, especially after recently signing James Trafford from Burnley.

The Role of Ederson’s Potential Exit

A key factor that could influence City’s position is the possible sale of Ederson. The Brazilian goalkeeper was left out of the squad for City’s 4-0 victory over Wolves, further fueling speculation about his future. 

Galatasaray have been linked with interest, but so far, the Premier League champions have struggled to attract a satisfactory offer. Without clarity over Ederson’s departure, City appear unwilling to invest heavily in Donnarumma.

Manchester United Rule Themselves Out

Manchester United had previously been mentioned as a potential suitor for Donnarumma, amid ongoing doubts over the consistency of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. 

However, recent reports confirm that United are not seeking to sign a new goalkeeper before the window closes, narrowing Donnarumma’s options for a move away from Paris.

Donnarumma’s Desire to Leave PSG

Donnarumma’s situation at PSG has become increasingly unsettled. The 25-year-old has surprisingly lost his place as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper to Lucas Chevalier, intensifying his determination to seek an exit from Parc des Princes this summer.
