Alan Shearer Weighs In on Alexander Isak’s Transfer Saga
Mansion Sports - Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has spoken out strongly against Alexander Isak following the striker’s controversial remarks about “broken promises” from the club.
Shearer went as far as suggesting that Isak should dismiss his agent, whom he believes is largely responsible for the turmoil surrounding the situation.
Isak stunned fans earlier this week when he posted on social media accusing Newcastle of failing to honor an agreement.
The club swiftly denied the claims, insisting that no such arrangement had ever been made and reaffirming that the Swedish forward remains part of the squad until the summer transfer window closes.
Shearer’s Stinging Criticism
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer did not hold back in his criticism. He described the ongoing saga as a “complete mess” instigated by poor guidance from Isak’s representative.
“Honestly, this entire mess has been caused by his agent,” Shearer remarked. “If I were Isak, I would call my agent into a room and fire him on the spot. His job is to provide the best advice, including ensuring there’s a proper release clause in a six-year contract. To sign such a deal without one is absurd. And relying on verbal promises in football without anything in writing? That’s utterly ridiculous.”
A Transfer Deadlock Persists
Despite Isak’s clear desire to leave—particularly with Liverpool as his preferred destination—the transfer negotiations remain unresolved. Newcastle rejected an opening £120 million ($162 million) bid from the Merseyside club.
However, recent reports suggest Liverpool are preparing a second offer before the window closes on September 1.
Isak has allegedly vowed never to play for Newcastle again, though it remains to be seen whether he follows through on this declaration or ultimately returns to action with Eddie Howe’s squad.
A Heated Clash on the Horizon
Given the escalating tensions, Isak is unlikely to be included in the matchday squad when Newcastle host Liverpool at St James’ Park on Monday in a high-profile Premier League fixture.
As the standoff intensifies, the Alexander Isak transfer saga is set to remain one of the defining storylines of the summer window, with all eyes on whether a resolution can be reached before the deadline.
