Alexander Isak Breaks Silence on Controversial Liverpool Move

Mansion SportsAlexander Isak, Liverpool’s record signing, has finally spoken about his controversial departure from Newcastle United.

The Swedish striker stressed that “not everyone knows the full picture” behind his decision to leave, following his £125 million (IDR 2.7 trillion) deadline-day move to Anfield during the summer transfer window.

First Match After a Long Absence

Isak recently returned to action with the Swedish national team in their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Kosovo.

He came off the bench in a surprising 2-0 defeat, marking his first competitive appearance since May, after sitting out Sweden’s earlier match against Slovenia.

Although disappointed by the result, Isak said he now feels free to fully focus on football following the completion of his transfer.

“It’s good that everything was settled before joining the squad, so I could shift my focus back to playing. This was a new situation for me, but I’ve learned a lot mentally off the pitch,” Isak told reporters.

Clarification on the Transfer Controversy

The 25-year-old was accused of going on “strike” after alleging that Newcastle failed to honor promises made to him.

His actions drew heavy criticism from both supporters of the Magpies and pundits. However, Isak chose not to reveal further details.

“Not everyone has the full picture. It’s something that might be discussed at another time. Right now, my focus is on the matches. Even though the result against Kosovo was disappointing, I remain optimistic about this new chapter with my club,” he explained.

Delighted to Join Liverpool

When asked about the backlash surrounding his transfer, Isak responded calmly.

“That’s part of football. I can’t control everything that is written or said. But I’m happy to be a Liverpool player. That’s what I wanted. People can talk, but for me, the matter is closed. I have no issues, and I’m proud to be part of Liverpool,” he said.

Eyeing His Liverpool Debut

Following his brief international appearance, Isak has now turned his attention toward making his official debut for Liverpool.

He is expected to feature when the Reds face Burnley in the Premier League this coming weekend.

The question remains: can Isak justify his record-breaking move with an impressive start at Anfield and put the Newcastle controversy firmly behind him?
