Mansion Sports - Chelsea's pursuit of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons continues to accelerate, with the Dutch international reportedly eager to finalize his move to Stamford Bridge as soon as possible. 

The 21-year-old’s growing dissatisfaction with his current situation in Germany has become increasingly apparent over the past week, adding further weight to speculation about his imminent departure.

Simons recently removed all references to RB Leipzig from his social media bios—an action widely interpreted as a deliberate signal of his intention to leave. 

Fueling rumors even further, the player left a public comment on Chelsea’s official Instagram post announcing the signing of fellow Dutch international Jorrel Hato, suggesting a growing connection with the London club.

Xavi Simons Pressuring Leipzig to Allow Immediate Exit

Respected transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Simons is actively pushing for the move to Chelsea and has grown frustrated with delays in the process.

“Simons has reached a point where he’s saying, ‘I’ve been waiting for weeks, now I want this transfer to happen,’” Romano stated. “That’s how he feels now.”

“The player wants to leave. He made his intentions clear to RB Leipzig again over the weekend,” he added.

Although Simons is still under contract with the Bundesliga side for another two years—having made his move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent during the last winter transfer window—sources close to the situation claim he had already expressed his plan to depart this summer shortly after signing.

Chelsea Looking to Offload Fringe Players to Fund Simons Deal

While Chelsea remains firmly interested in acquiring Simons, the club is currently prioritizing the sale of several squad players who no longer fit into head coach Enzo Maresca’s tactical vision.

This approach is aimed at freeing up both financial and roster space to accommodate a formal bid for Simons.

Among those likely to be offloaded are Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Their potential exits follow the confirmed departures of João Félix and Armando Broja earlier this summer. 

These strategic moves are designed to ensure that Chelsea complies with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations while still remaining competitive in the transfer market.

With less than a month remaining before the summer transfer window officially closes, Chelsea still has a realistic opportunity to finalize negotiations with Leipzig and bring Simons to West London. 

However, the urgency is growing, as Maresca’s squad has already resumed full training at the club’s Cobham facilities.

The Premier League season is set to kick off in under two weeks, and Chelsea—who enter the 2025–26 campaign as reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions—are seeking to strengthen their squad further.
