Bayern Munich Officially Sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea
Mansion Sports - Bayern Munich have finalized the signing of Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson on an initial loan deal that includes an option for a permanent transfer.
The agreement, which was reached last week, faced unexpected complications when Chelsea attempted to halt the move after Liam Delap sustained a hamstring injury expected to sideline him for an extended period.
Although Chelsea requested Jackson’s return to London, the Senegalese striker remained in Munich with his agent, hoping negotiations could be revived.
Chelsea subsequently demanded that any agreement must include a permanent transfer option, leading both clubs to settle on a loan arrangement with an obligation to buy dependent on the number of appearances Jackson makes.
Financial Details of the Transfer and Contract
Jackson has now signed his contract with Bayern, completing what is believed to be the most expensive loan deal in football history.
The agreement is valued at £14.2 million ($19.2 million), making it a record-breaking figure for a one-year loan.
In Bayern’s official announcement, Jackson shared his excitement:
“I am very happy to now be part of this great club. Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. Everyone knows the legends who have played here and understands that this club represents the highest level of success. I have big goals and dreams here, and I will give my all to help Bayern win more trophies.”
Bayern’s Expectations for Nicolas Jackson
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund expressed confidence in Jackson’s ability to strengthen the squad:
“Nicolas will bring a new dimension to our attack. He can play in multiple positions, possesses great pace, is dangerous in front of goal, and is always looking for ways to break through defensive lines for the benefit of the team. He also has an open and positive personality, which will make it easy for him to integrate into our squad.”
Bayern’s purchase clause for Jackson is set at £56.2 million, bringing the total potential value of the deal to approximately £70.4 million.
Nicolas Jackson’s Track Record at Chelsea
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for £32 million. Over two productive seasons at Stamford Bridge, he recorded 30 goals and 12 assists in 81 appearances.
Despite his contributions, Chelsea sought to reinforce their attacking options during the summer transfer window. The club secured Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million and João Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion for £60 million.
With Delap potentially sidelined for a lengthy period, Chelsea also opted to recall former Barcelona striker Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland.
